With its lease recently having been bought out, the Drago’s Seafood Restaurant location at 4580 Constitution Ave. in Baton Rouge is currently negotiating a new location. The current location is slated to close by the end of January. Owner Tommy Cvitanovich told What Now New Orleans he is hoping to reopen a Capital Region location “ASAP” to ensure his employees can continue working without interruption. Cvitanovich said he is currently under a nondisclosure agreement regarding the new location and said an announcement would be coming soon.

Drago’s Seafood was founded in 1969 in Metairie by its namesake Drago Cvitanovich and his wife Klara Cvitanovich. The restaurant became known for its signature dish, charbroiled oysters made with a heavy helping of garlic. In addition to the original location, there are five other Drago’s Seafood locations located in New Orleans, Lake Charles, Bossier City, and Jackson, Miss.
