According to a recent Oregon Live article, Palomar will soon move locations to West Portland at 1422 NW 23rd Avenue.

“We don’t have a precise date as we’re still working out the logistics. However, we’re aiming for mid-February for a final service in our current space and then relaunching in the new space in mid-March,” Jordan Valls, Palomar’s bar manager, told What Now Portland.

“Palomar is a Cuban-inspired Cocktail Bar that leans very heavily into our food program. In recent years, we have been thought of more as a restaurant, especially with Chef Ricky Bella at the helm, and have acted as such! We provide full table service at a non-premium cost; something that has become harder and harder to maintain in this industry.”

“I like to think we uphold fine-dining practices in a more casual setting. You won’t find white linen tablecloths on our tables, but we will still crumb your table between courses.”

“Being in SE Portland in a non-heavy foot-traffic neighborhood has cornered us into being a destination establishment. Which, especially during the cold, slower months, is challenging, to say the least. We have done all that we could with what we have in our current space. Our lease is up soon, and this opportunity to be in a space that is more fitting for our needs and that allows us to continue growing just makes sense.”

“We are super grateful to be in this position of being able to move, especially in light of all of the great restaurants that have unfortunately had to close their doors as of late. We had a great time in our current space and made endless and cherished memories, but a new chapter is in store for us!”

“We’ll still be the same team, still the same flair, but this gives us a new and exciting opportunity to showcase how far we’ve come in food & drink. I can say that during my 3 years here, I’ve tried very diligently to change people’s association with us being just “a daiquiri bar”. In fact, it’s only just been in the past couple of months that publications have dropped this “blurb” about us when we are featured in articles.”

“Our new space, we will split the floor between bar & reserved seating, allowing us to truly showcase our cocktail bar roots. For now, we will be launching our classic dinner service and in the following weeks add lunch service and then bring back Chef Ricky’s coveted brunch service as well!”

“We are super excited about this new chapter! As they say, when one door closes, another one opens. We will still largely be involved in our local community, as well as continuing to showcase ourselves (and Portland) at National events such as PDX Cocktail Week, Arizona Cocktail Weekend & Tales of the Cocktail.”

“Palomar is fresh off of two consecutive Tales of the Cocktail nominations for Best Restaurant Bar – both of which we finished in the top 4 in the country, as well as a Liquor.com nomination for Best Restaurant Bar, of which we finished in the Top 5 in the country. I, myself, also just won Best New Bartender 2024 from Punch Drink, of which I was the only person nominated into the finals from the PNW.”
