A popular chain is setting out to prove to Hoboken that-despite the claims of Kermit the Frog-it is, in fact, easy being green. Sweetgreen, known for putting a healthier spin on fast-casual dining, is opening a new location in the neighborhood.

According to local media outlet The Hoboken Girl, the Hoboken Historic Preservation Committee reviewed paperwork filed by the chain in a November of 2024 meeting. Sweetgreen will be moving into the space at 218 Washington Street that housed DryBar until early last year.

A Sweetgreen representative has confirmed the Hoboken location with What Now Philadelphia, but has demured from sharing any further information until the opening is closer. She has, however, indicated that the chain is hopeful that it will begin greeting guests later in 2025.

Founded in DC in 2007, Sweetgreen has earned an ardent fan-base through its nutritious approach to fast-casual cuisine. The chain has spread to include more than 220 locations across 18 states.

The brand’s website sums up its ethos and founding principles, stating: “We’re on a mission to build healthier communities by connecting people to real food. We make delicious salads, bowls, protein plates and more with thoughtfully sourced ingredients that fill you up and make you feel good.”
