Husband-and-wife team and Co-Owners John and Kelly Reed have been busy serving up authentic Cajun cuisine in Chicago’s French Market under the name Joker’s Cajun Kitchen. A storefront on N Clinton St. has the pair dishing up classic Louisiana eats like Gumbo and Jambalaya for a good portion of Chicagoland. Did we mention Joker’s does po’boys? From blackened shrimp to andouille sausage, Joker’s, despite its name, takes its NOLA food pretty darn seriously.

So it’s important you realize we’re not kidding either when we say Joker’s is expanding.

A liquor license application has been filed for Joker’s Cajun Smokehouse, which means the Cajun Kitchen’s sister concept is headed to 2416 W. Schubert Ave, just across the street from Regal City North IMAX and 4DX.

In addition to Joker’s Cajun Kitchen, John and Kelly Reed also operate Joker’s Drinks To-Go, a brightly colored food truck ferrying mojitos, margaritas, hurricanes, beer, soda, and more to the event of your choice.

No word yet on what exactly the sibling eatery’s menu will bring, but an announcement on Joker’s social media indicates we will likely find out next month. An opening date has not been announced. Regardless of when, we’re pretty excited to get more access to anything like the Muffuletta Po’Boy. Salami, ham, capicola, provolone, and an olive tapenade served over the Joker’s fresh, po’boy French bread? Yes please.
