South Loop is gearing up to welcome its newest breakfast and brunch spot, Southern Chicago. Sloopin first reported on the plans, noting Southern Chicago recently signed a lease for 2000 S. Wabash Avenue, a site last occupied by Royale Puppies, the local pup-shop that closed down in summer 2020.

Southern Chicago is described as a ‘contemporary Southern infused brunch’ spot with a rather wise motto: breakfast is a meal, but brunch is a culture. Hard to argue with that! And from other posts on the eatery’s social media account, it sounds like Southern Chicago believes in a boozey brunch.

At 2000 S. Wabash, Southern Chicago will find itself at home around other eateries like Reggies Chicago, Bureau Bar and Restaurant, and La Cantina. No word yet on when exactly Southern Chicago will open, but you can keep an eye on the eatery’s social media to find out more. Sounds like your Sunday plans are about to get a whole lot more delicious.
