Meadowlark Hospitality Group has shared early details regarding its third and final concept in Logan Square, called The Meadowlark.
The new craft cocktail bar will be a tip of the hat to Chicago’s cocktail culture, both past and present, completing the group’s multi-restaurant development that also houses Lardon and Union. The Meadowlark will be tucked away behind an unmarked door near the back alley, where guests will find an intimate, dimly lit cocktail haven that exudes vintage Chicago charm. Partners Steve Lewis and Chef Chris Thompson plan to open this speakeasy within their storied neighborhood space in Summer 2022.
Lewis and Thompson first opened Lardon at 2200 N California Avenue in July 2021, earning Bib Gourmand acclamation the following year. The salumeria and charming daytime café quickly became known for its generously stacked sandwiches and house-cured charcuterie. The next spring, the group followed with Union at 2202 N. California Ave. This beer-focused neighborhood restaurant featured 24 rotating taps and new American cuisine. The Meadowlark will comfortably seat 30 guests and offer a rotating cocktail menu.
“Three years ago, when we found this beautiful building in our neighborhood, we knew we wanted to create three fundamentally distinct experiences under one roof that somehow managed to complement one other in a very special way,” Lewis said in a press release. “With Lardon, Union and now The Meadowlark, we’ve poured our hearts into restoring this building with the goal of retaining the unique charm that’s so quintessentially ‘Chicago,’ but in a vibrant way that feels both new and exciting as the neighborhood continues to grow and thrive and embraces the unique character of each concept within.”
