Sweetgreen, the fast-casual restaurant that aims to build healthier communities by connecting people to real food, is coming to West Loop at 1330 W Fulton St.

The health-forward eatery will join Fairgrounds Coffee & Tea and potentially a new bar-type business called After. The 52,209 square-foot building was built in 2017 and is home to several other companies such as Dyson, Intercom, and Waystar. Four Pillars Restaurant Group, along with Aaron Gersonde and Andrei Primakow, recently applied for a liquor license for a new drinking establishment on the first floor of the building. Both new businesses will likely open by year-end.

Sweetgreen, founded in 2006 by Nicolas Jammet, Nathaniel Ru, and Jonathan Neman, serves more than just delicious food that is good for you. The company itself pledges to become carbon neutral by the end of 2027. Their plant-forward menu means an average of 30% less carbon intensive than the average American meal. The eco-conscious chain has become one of the fastest-growing healthly restaurants in the country. This is an impressive accomplishment for what started with three college students.

“When we were in school, there were two choices: food that was slow, expensive, and fresh—or fast, cheap, and unhealthy,” according to the company’s website. “We saw an opportunity to create a business where quality was never sacrificed for convenience. On August 1st, 2007, two months after graduating, we opened Sweetgreen in Washington DC, and served our first customers with a vision to reimagine fast food.”
