The popular globally-inspired taco chain Velvet Taco has its eyes set on a new location in Schaumburg at 1200 N. Meacham Rd.
The company’s fourth Illinois site will move into the upcoming Crossroads of Schaumburg, according to the Daily Herald. This proposed five-building development includes a Lazy Dog, Naansense, Crisp & Green, Piccolo Buco, and Cava. While Velvet Taco operates across the country, including sites in Gold Coast, Lincoln Common, and Fulton Market, this will be the company’s first suburban location within Chicagoland. All restaurants are expected to open in Spring 2024.
When the new location opens, customers can expect delicious Mexican classics made with only the freshest ingredients. The company takes pride in making everything from scratch, including slow roasting its chicken and corn, as well as its boozy beverages. The menu includes several tacos with several types of meat to choose from, as well as vegetarian options and the weekly “WTF” taco feature. On top of several delicious sides, such as elote guac and chips & dips trio, the restaurant also offers a vegan red velvet taco cake to tie it all together.
“Velvet Taco is a temple to the liberated taco,” according to the company’s website. “We’re a one-of-a-kind taco concept serving premium food in a unique & funky fast-casual setting. Founded on the idea that tacos don’t have to be associated with Tex-Mex cuisine and can be made with the same care and quality ingredients as fine dining, Velvet Taco is where ‘anything goes meets the art of the possible.'”
