According to a recent article from Chicago Eater, Perilla will be opening a second location called Perilla Steak in the “upcoming” L7 Hotel at 225 N Wabash Ave.
A representative of Perilla was not immediately available for commentary upon What Now Chicago’s request.
While the official opening date for Perilla has yet to be disclosed, at its core, Perilla believes that providing an exceptional culinary experience is not the work of a single individual but a dedicated team working in unison.
Perilla’s commitment is described as extending beyond their walls. They are said to be staunch advocates of local businesses and are dedicated to forging partnerships with quality purveyors. This objective not only allows them to share the finest products and services with their patrons but also bolsters the local business community in Chicago.
At the helm of Perilla stands Executive Chef Andrew Lim, who is described as a culinary artist with a journey deeply rooted in Chicago’s culinary scene. His career began at The Bristol, under the guidance of Executive Chef Chris Pandel, and he continued to learn and grow alongside his mentor. His culinary adventures took him from Chicago to the Bay Area of California, where he opened a pizzeria with a childhood friend.
Andrew’s culinary journey also encompassed a season in Nantucket, followed by returning to Chicago to be part of the opening teams for renowned restaurants like Formento’s, Swift & Sons, and Cold Storage. In 2018, he embarked on his independent venture, opening City Rock Korean Kitchen with his brother, Billy Lim. Soon after, the dream of Perilla took shape, allowing him to share his cultural and culinary heritage with the city of Chicago, a vision long nurtured and finally realized in July 2019, according to the company website.
