A popular local seafood restaurant is preparing to open its third North Texas location.
Coming to Denton, Shuck Me has been transforming the space at 311 N Elm St for the past several months and is “opening soon,” according to a recent Facebook post. The small seafood chain was originally planning to open its Denton restaurant in fall/winter 2021 and have been keeping expectant fans updated via social media. And now, the wait shouldn’t be much longer.
Launched in 2017 by Roger Haverkamp, the first Shuck Me restaurant opened in Southlake at 585 Randol Mill Ave. A Hochatown, Oklahoma, location with a huge covered “back yard” patio followed in 2018. In 2020, Shuck Me opened its third location in Fort Worth’s Alliance Town Center – an eclectic and colorful space with an indoor cantina and small outdoor patio. An Austin location is also in the works.
Locations include signature fishing décor and live music on weekends.
On the menu, guests can expect an extensive selection of seafood with a Tex-Mex twist. There’s everything from fresh cocktails and oysters to chowders and po-boys, as well as grilled and fried fish dishes.
Sides include fried okra, corn on the cob, hushpuppies, Ranchero beans and Mexican rice. For dessert, there’s bread pudding with whiskey rum sauce and warm beignets.
“Everything is made from scratch and prepared to order…that’s what makes Shuck Me different,” general manger Zeke Fernandez told Paper City Mag in 2020. “We serve seasonal seafood like crawfish and snow crab.”
