Aledo is getting a new barbecue joint. Dayne’s Craft Barbecue is set to open at 100 S Front St. in Aledo in a space soon to be left vacant by Montes Burritos.

Montes Burritos announced on social media late last week that this Friday would be the Mexican restaurant’s last day to serve customers. Dayne’s Craft Barbecue, which is currently serving its menu from a food trailer on Camp Bowie W Blvd. in Fort Worth, announced shortly after that they would be taking over the space.

Aledo Mayor Nick Stanley commented on the Facebook announcement, “We are so excited to have Dayne’s Craft Barbecue in the City of Aledo! This community and the surrounding area is overjoyed at the news of y’all coming to town. We can’t wait!”

The Aledo location will be Dayne’s Craft Barbecue’s first brick-and-mortar. The space is a free-standing, 2,700-square-foot building. They plan to add a pit room and a 1,000-square-foot, covered patio space. According to a recent project filing, if all goes according to plan, construction could wrap up sometime in the fall of 2023.

The current menu features a variety of meats including Prime Black Angus Brisket, Pork Spare Ribs, and Handmade Sausage. Sides include Flamin’ Hot Street Corn, Creamy Mac n’ Cheese, and Crisp Apple Slaw. Dayne’s Craft Barbecue plans to expand the menu at the Aledo location.

Dayne Weaver, owner, started smoking meats in his backyard in 2017. His wife, Ashley, suggested selling his menu, so Dayne began offering guests smoked meats from his front yard, according to the business’ website. Dayne’s Underground Barbecue was founded, and as news spread and the customer base grew, they rebranded to Dayne’s Craft Barbecue. The two held pop-ups across the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex and later opened the food trailer. Texas Monthly named Dayne’s Craft Barbecue a Top 50 BBQ Joint in 2021.
