Chuy’s Tex-Mex operates over 90 restaurants in 17 states, with a new location coming to 2701 E. Interstate 20 in Hudson Oaks, Texas by August 2024, according to a recent filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.
Chuy’s got its start in Austin, Texas in 1982 in an abandoned BBQ joint and has not departed from its original vibe or vision.
According to the website, founders Mike Young and John App “had a vision of a fun and funky Tex-Mex restaurant that served authentic and fresh food in an atmosphere that appealed to everyone.”
The restaurant claims to take nothing seriously, except of course, food. Their expansive menu reflects the flavors of Mexico, New Mexico, and border towns and they say “our commitment to our food is still at the core of everything we do today.”
