A new concept featuring a curated wine list will soon hit East Nashville, called Butterlamp Bread & Beverage. The new dining spot is the lovechild of local creative duo, Ben and Katie Rose Tyson, who combined their business skills in the hospitality industry with a dream of owning a local neighborhood mainstay, as reported by the Nashville Business Journal. The restaurant will open sometime this spring and will be located at 1101 Chapel Ave #103.
The husband-and-wife team both boast impressive backgrounds, with Katie having worked in the music industry and recently founded a hospitality marketing agency called Cinq Henri. Ben has worked as a chef with Audrey’s Sean Brock and founded a local nonprofit called Patchwork, which provides access to quality food for those in need.
“Butterlamp Bread & Beverage is inspired by our travels. We’re excited to be a part of the Nashville restaurant community and look forward to sharing our stories as we get closer to our opening date,” Katie told What Now Nashville.
According to permits, the project was recently approved to begin construction in the 1,500-square-foot space. There is no confirmed grand opening date set, though it’s likely to be in the next two or three months. Butterlamp’s new website and Instagram show sneak peeks of inspiration photos with a chic, European feel and “Wine bar, bread house” as its messaging.
The building Butterlamp will be housed in is a historic former chapel, renovated and redeveloped as part of the Vintage South’s Eastwood Village mixed-use complex. Local architecture and design firm Powell is listed as the architect on permits.
“Part bread house, Butterlamp will sell sourdough loaves and other breads in select, limited quantities. Butterlamp Bread & Beverage takes its moniker from the couple’s honeymoon spent in Bhutan. Throughout the trip, they had the opportunity to light a Butterlamp for various auspicious occasions: good health and good fortune. When searching for a name, it fit seamlessly, clinking glasses to cheers to life’s moments,” states a release.
Customers can anticipate a rotating food menu including shared plates, sourdough-based bread, non-alcoholic options, as well as some dessert options. Hours of operation will be Thursday through Monday starting at 2 p.m., and brunch service on Sundays and Mondays beginning at 11 a.m. Stay tuned for more sneak peeks on its Instagram page.
