The Horn will be opening a second cafe location near Vanderbilt University at 2059 Scarritt Place, according to recent permits.

The Somali cafe first opened in Nashville in 2014 at 619 Murfreesboro Pike under the ownership of the Sayid family. The ownership is shared by Hassan Rasul and his sons Ahmed and Zakariya Sayid.

The Horn has become known in Nashville for both its sambusas and its chai. The Sayid family, originally from Somalia, serves authentic Somalian street food with an American twist, according to their website. The menu features multiple flavored chai beverages as well as handcrafted coffee drinks. Non-sambusa food offerings include mandazi and nafaqo.

The spot has also become known as a local multicultural hub, and the Sayids pride themselves on sharing authentic East African food with Nashville residents, according to an article in Native Magazine.

“We are here to create a community and experience that showcases our drive to connect Nashvillians to Somali food and culture,” The Horn website states.

As of now, no opening date has been announced. Permits indicate that interior renovations are expected to begin on the space.

What Now Nashville has reached out to the owners for more information on the expansion and timeline but has yet to receive a response. Stay tuned for updates on this location.
