Cinema West is moving into the former Arclight Theatres in El Segundo, which has been shuttered since the pandemic. The 65,00 square-foot, 16-screen theater will house Beach Cities Pizza, a wood-fired pizza concept serving up cocktails and craft beer. The restaurant and bar will also feature an outdoor patio.

Movie-goers will be able to take their meals to their seats and can also order food and drinks via the Cinema West app. The theater’s concession stand will be self-service cafeteria-style.

Executive director of Cinema West James Howard told the Daily Breeze that they plan to completely gut and refresh the interior. He estimated that the new establishment could be ready by June or July.

“It has been a priority of mine to reopen our movie theater and to sign a lease with a quality operator like Cinema West – it has been worth the wait,” Richard Lundquist, president of Continental Development, said in a press release.

In addition to new releases, Cinema West will regularly show classic and independent films. The movie theater chain has locations throughout California and Idaho.
