Tommy Bahama’s Marlin Bar is getting ready to enter the North Carolina market for the first time, with a new location coming to SouthPark Mall at 4335 Barclay Downs Dr.

The company’s 11th location is set to move into the former home of McCormick & Schmick’s in the SouthPark Mall, according to Jason Thomas. This will be the first time the company opens any of its bar or restaurant concepts in North Carolina, with locations already in Arizona, California, Florida, Hawaii, Nevada, New York, and Texas, with another site coming soon to San Antonio. The new Marlin Bar coming to Charlotte is expected to open in Summer 2024.

The new restaurant will also have a dedicated space for a Tommy Bahama store, which will be moving from its current location within the mall. The new bar and changes are a part of the mall’s overall effort to revamp the shopping center. Recently, the mall has announced the addition of several new retailers, including Vuori, Breitling, Bally, Diptyque, and Tudor. The new Marlin Bar will give shoppers a new place to grab a drink before or after shopping.

When the new bar opens in a few months, customers can expect cocktails, light fare, and organic soft-serve ice cream in a laid-back outdoor space that resembles the Tommy Bahama brand. The new Marlin Bar will likely be open throughout mall hours and will have happy hour from 3 pm to 6 pm daily with occasional live music. Each location of this concept has unique features for the area. For example, the Palm Springs location has misters on hot days and heaters on cool evenings.
