East Side Yoga is preparing to debut, bringing a new fitness and wellness option to East Charlotte. Located at Eastway Crossing (3124 Eastway Drive, Unit 530), the studio is targeting an opening in early 2027, according to the upcoming business’s Instagram page.
Owner Audrey Baran is a lifelong North Carolinian and brings a background in dance, choreography, and holistic wellness. She is a 500-hour Registered Yoga Teacher specializing in Power Vinyasa Yoga and the teachings of the Himalayan Institute, as well as a certified MUNZ FLOOR® instructor, according to her website. Baran is also the founder and artistic director of Baran Dance, a nonprofit contemporary dance organization she has led since 2012.
“As a dancer and choreographer, I naturally gravitate towards athleticism, grace, and power. I practice what I preach and teach what I know after studying with some of the most internationally renowned figures in embodied and holistic wellness. A quieter mind, a happier gut, and a more resilient body are what keep me going, and I love to share these little discoveries with my community,” she told What Now Charlotte.
The approximately 1,200-square-foot studio will offer 28 classes per week, with sessions scheduled between 6:30 AM and 8 PM. Classes will accommodate a maximum of 20 to 25 mats. The studio has hired eight instructors so far, and will be adding front-desk staff ahead of opening.
The lease has been signed, and permitting and construction are expected to begin following the space’s turnover later this month or in early December.
“East Side Yoga offers real yoga for real people. Every class and workshop is designed to be welcoming, challenging, and forward-thinking, whether you are a seasoned practitioner, new, or returning to your mat. No matter who you are or where you come from, you are welcome on the East Side,” Baran added.
