Charlotte-based brewery Suffolk Punch Brewing has begun construction on its taproom in the Birkdale Village in Huntersville. The new location will be its third taproom to open since the brewery launched in 2017.
The brewery’s ownership is aiming to open the new taproom, which is being built at 16912 Birkdale Commons Pkwy, by the end of 2024, co-owner Seth Stidham told the Charlotte Business Journal. It was originally slated to open earlier this year, as What Now Charlotte reported previously.
The Lake Norman location follows the brewery’s 11,000-square-foot expansion to SouthPark mall in 2023. Its original location is in South End, which has been open since 2017.
The Birkdale Village location will be smaller than the other taprooms, at only 1,600 square feet. It is expected to be a two-story taproom with a rooftop bar. Birkdale Village has been a mixed-use destination in Huntersville since 1999. The 52-acre spread features a variety of restaurant and retail spots.
Suffolk Punch Brewing is known in the Charlotte community for its craft beers, as well as its extensive list of specialty cocktails, wines and coffee beverages. It also serves a comfort-style food menu and a weekend brunch. It is one of the Durban Group’s family of companies, led by Collin Ricks and Glen Cherry.
What Now Charlotte has reached out to Suffolk Punch Brewing for more information on their timeline and construction progress but has yet to receive a response. Stay tuned for updates on the new location.
