Chopt Creative Salad Co. appears to be relocating from its location in the Johnston Building at 212 S. Tryon to Marriott’s Courtyard Charlotte City Center at 237 S Tryon St.

Chopt first came to the Uptown spot in 2019, adding to its three existing locations in the Charlotte region in Park Road Shopping Center, Blakeney and Arboretum.

The news, first reported by Jason Thomas, comes in the wake of a May announcement that the Johnston Building had been acquired by KHP Capital Partners and would be converted into a hotel.

While it appears the Starbucks currently in the Johnston Building will remain with the new hotel, Chopt will be moving to the Courtyard Marriott spot just across the street. It is planned to go in next to the lobby at the corner of 3rd and Tryon, according to local reporting. It will join the Courtyard’s current restaurant, The Bistro, which offers breakfast and dinners options, as well as beer and wine.

There has been no timeline announced for the move as of yet. For now, Chopt remains open at the original location before work on the Johnston Building conversion starts.

Chopt Creative Salad Co. was founded in 2001 in New York City by Tony Shure and Colin McCabe. It now has about 90 location across 13 states. The chain is known for its premium salads, its bowls and its wraps. The health-centered brand also features a build-your-own-salad option.
