The intersection of Madison Avenue and South 78th Street in Tampa will soon be home to a new outpost of cheeseburger chain Checkers Drive-In. The new Checkers will open for business at 7711 Madison Avenue, according to recently submitted plan review.
By our count, it’s the chain’s twelfth location in Tampa, but it’s the first location for new franchisee Terri Suttle. Suttle confirmed the existence of a new Madison Avenue Checkers location in a brief phone call with What Now on Monday. What Now is awaiting further details by email.
The Checkers menu features branded burgers like the burger-with-everything Big Buford, the Baconzilla, and the Double Fry Lover’s Burger (hand-seasoned, 100% beef hamburger patty topped with our Famous Seasoned Fries® and loaded up with American cheese, dill pickles, ketchup, mustard, and mayonnaise on a toasted sesame seed bun).
The menu offers chicken choices like Fry-Seasoned Tenders, the Spicy Chicken Sandwich, and the Chicken Bites and Fries Box. There’s also the Crispy Fish Sandwich.
The Madison Avenue location is part of a growing retail and restaurant community that includes eateries like Pizza Pino, New Far East, and Kiki’s Restaurant & Lounge.
