Born 6 years ago, Venice’s Tikka Indian Cuisine is a family business born out of a love for cooking, plenty of experimentation, and no shortage of hard work. Now, the restaurant is expanding with its second outpost, this time in Sarasota at 5445 Fruitville Road, in the Sarasota Crossings retail center.
“When Tikka started, it was my brother Radhakrishna and his wife Crystal,” Pallavi, a co-owner of the new location, told What Now. “He’s a businessman. He has a convenience, store, a gas station, and so on, but he loves cooking, and he was always cooking at home for his family.”
Originally a hobby, food eventually became a vocation for the budding chef. “He always loved it,” Pallavi said. “But once he decided to do a restaurant, he started learning as much as possible, reading so many cookbooks, doing experiments. Even while he was a business owner, he was working in other restaurants, learning everything he could.”
And it’s paid off: six years after its conception, Tikka Indian Cuisine is expanding to its Sarasota location, where Pallavi says it will serve the same great dishes offered in Venice. Those dishes include classics like the ever-popular Tikka Masala, plus Korma, Vindaloo, Rogan Josh, and more. Dishes are served in vegetarian and paneer varieties, or with proteins like chicken, lamb, or shrimp.
“At Tikka, we passionately serve authentic Indian cuisine, embodying the rich culinary heritage of India,” says the Tikka website. “Guided by the principle ‘Atithi Devo Bhava’, we treat every guest as divine, ensuring they experience exceptional service, a vibrant ambiance, and a memorable dining journey. Our mission is not just to serve food, but to honor the tradition of hospitality, celebrating every guest as a revered part of our restaurant family.”
