DC foodies looking for a delicious and atmospheric gastropub meal will soon have a new option to add to their rotation. Makers Union will be opening in Cathedral Commons later this winter, reports local media outlet PoPville.

The restaurant, owned by Thompson Hospitality, will be taking over the space vacated by Matchbox at 3701 Newark Street, NW. While Makers Union has not announced an official opening date yet, the eatery will begin feeding hungry DC residents soon; the company will debut the Cathedral Commons location in Q1 of 2024.

The Cathedral Commons Makers Union will be the gastropub’s fourth location. The brand currently has two Virginia spots, one in Reston, the other in Arlington. Cathedral Commons is Makers Union’s second DC home-the first opened at the Wharf in 2023.

Makers Union uses locally-sourced ingredients to craft elevated pub fare. The restaurant offers a weekend brunch menu. Each dish is crafted to reflect the local landscape, creating a uniquely DC dining experience.
