Dutch Girl Donuts, the beloved sweet joint at 19000 Woodward Ave, has been acquired by Paddy Lynch and is planned to reopen in early 2024. The shop closed in 2021 following the death of the previous owner Gene Timmer.

The Lynch family has deep ties with the previous owners. “My family has loved Dutch Girl since before I was born,” Lynch said in a statement. “I’m extremely grateful, honored, and excited to carry this local favorite forward for the Timmer family.”

The Lynch family also operates The Schvitz, a wellness center and bathhouse, and several funeral homes throughout Metro Detroit. Tim Lynch, Jr, Paddy Lynch’s cousin, has known the Timmer family since childhood and handled their funeral services.

The Timmer family carefully chose Lynch from over 30 offers after they announced their intention to sell the business earlier this year. The transfer of ownership is completed under the condition that Jon Timmer, Gene Timmer’s son, stays as a baker with the shop, according to a press release.
