A popular Korean BBQ and Hot Pot chain, KPOT, is opening its first Lansing area location in Lansing Mall at 5924 W Saginaw Hwy this month. Soft openings are scheduled for May 19 and 20, whereas the grand opening to the public is anticipated by the end of the month or the beginning of June, according to the location manager. This news was first seen in Lansing State Journal.

While KPOT offers franchising opportunities, Location Manager Anika Huang told What Now Detroit over the phone that the Lansing Mall location is corporate-owned. The location has been in the works since last spring, although construction has been quiet, and few updates have been publicly shared. According to the Lansing State Journal coverage, the restaurant was still finishing permitted work at the beginning of May and did not receive a certificate of occupancy at that time.

Founded in 2018, KPOT Korean BBQ & Hot Pot offers a customizable AYCE experience where diners can choose their preferred broth/soup base and ingredients to cook with. “Personally, I like everything on our menu,” said Huang over the phone.

The chain currently has over 70 company-owned and franchisee-owned locations across 27 states and opened its first Michigan location last year in Novi. The chain’s website currently lists over 50 upcoming locations, including the Delta Township restaurant.
