The team behind several Detroit businesses is beefing up their portfolio with a new addition.

Christine and Jacques Driscoll are adding Kiesling to their portfolio, the Detroit Free Press reports. Both the business and the building will be purchased as part of the transaction, according to the news outlet. Financial terms of the sale were not disclosed.

The new owners plan to add Sunday hours, but other than that, customers shouldn’t expect too many changes.

The Driscolls are experienced business owners as part of the team behind Inlaws Hospitality. Their portfolio includes the American bar and grill known for its sliders called Green Dot Stables, the ramen restaurant Johnny Noodle King, and the multi-location Yellow Light Coffee & Donuts.

Kiesling is a craft cocktail bar located at 449 E Milwaukee Avenue, in the Milwaukee Junction neighorhood. It features signature and classic cocktails, wine and beer, as well as culinary pop-ups.

The space has undergone many iterations, opening as a general store in the 1890s before evolving into Milwaukee Cafe, then a tavern. A bar called Eddie’s Bar occupied the building in the 1950s and 1960s, then Edith’s Hideaway operated at the space until the 1990s.

New life was breathed into the building when it underwent redevelopment and reopened as Kiesling in 2018.

Kiesling was a nominee for Best U.S. Cocktail Bar by Tales of the Cocktail in 2023.
