According to a recent permit filing, Winan’s Coffee and Chocolates is making plans to open a new location at 611 N High St in Short North. The business has nearly 20 locations throughout central Ohio, including in the Columbus and Dayton areas, and is known for selling assorted chocolates and candies, as well as bags of coffee and beverages.

Established in 1961 by Max and Dick Winans in Piqua, Ohio, the company was originally called Winans Carriage House Candies, according to information on its website. Fast forward to present day, and Winan’s Coffee and Chocolates is headed by Wilson Reiser, the grandson of Max Winan, with 19 locations in Ohio and a 6,000-square-foot roastery facility.

Guests can find items like chocolate-covered strawberries, caramel apples and a variety of chocolates and candies at a Winan’s. Drinks include both iced and hot varieties, including espresso beverages, chai, matcha and a number of teas.

What Now Columbus reached out to Winan’s for more information on the new location, but a representative with the company chose not to comment on the location’s permitting and buildout progression at this time.
