According to a recent permit filing, Bella Ciao will soon come to Bellingham’s Central Business District, located at 1425 & 1427 Railroad Ave.
A representative of Bella Ciao was not immediately available for commentary upon What Now Seattle’s request.
While an official opening date has yet to be confirmed, according to their website, they are the sister bar to The Admiralty Lounge, and will be “a new neighborhood pizza tavern.”
According to an article from Sip Magazine in May, The Admiralty Lounge opened at the end of March of this year. “The new cocktail bar and restaurant concept is built around nautical and naval history. The theme is personal to co-owner Jabriel Donohue,” the article states. Jabriel is also one of the permit filers for Bella Ciao.
The story of Jabriel Donohue is described as a journey that weaves its way through the winding roads of the American West, one that led him from Bellingham at age 20 to Los Angeles, and the world of the movie industry. However, the allure of his hometown is said to have never quite faded, and Jabriel’s path slowly brought him back up the coast.
While on this journey, Jabriel received a call from the former owner of Snowy River Cocktail Co. This contact led to a collaboration with his business partner, Dan Pagard, who is the other applicant for Bella Ciao. The opportunity was described as being too enticing to resist—the North Commercial Street space in Bellingham was up for grabs. Thus, Jabriel and Dan decided to seize it.
“Though the two already had a lease on another space in Bellingham — that concept is still under wraps but expected to launch around midsummer — they decided to sign onto the new space as well,” according to the previously mentioned article.
