The expansion of combination gas station, fast casual eatery and convenience store chains coming to central Ohio continues, as Buc-ee’s and Sheetz have both recently shared plans to open stores in the area. Last month, What Now Columbus shared that Pennsylvania based Wawa announced plans to bring 60 locations to Ohio over the next decade. Earlier this month, Wawa filed plans with the planning and zoning commission in Lebanon to begin the process of opening one of its promised 60 locations, at Kingsview Drive and S.R. 48 Bypass. According to information submitted to the planning commission, the new building will be over 5,600 square feet and will be situated on a vacant three acre property.

According to a press release put out by the company, groundbreaking is planned for the middle of next year, with store openings projected to begin rolling out mid-2025. Wawa is more than a fueling station and convenience store, since it also offers ready to eat fast casual options, which are made on site. Currently, there are more than 1,000 locations operating in six states and Washington, D.C.

The fast casual options include salads, pizza, sandwiches, quesadillas, burritos and breakfast options like bagels, breakfast sandwiches and breakfast burritos. There are also fresh baked goods, like muffins and donuts, along with coffee, smoothies and milkshakes.

According to information on its website, Wawa is a privately held, family-owned company with 200 years in American business.
