Pour Taproom Looking To Replace TAP Gastropub in Midtown

The owners don't have any immediate plans to break ground on a second location, but filed a permit knowing it will take longer with the City Hall shuttered due to the coronavirus.

Jon Kim and Ramon Ballester, the owners of Pour Taproom: Atlanta, are looking to open a second location, this time in Midtown. The pair last week filed a permit with the City of Atlanta to open the self-serve bar in the 4,400-square-foot space that used to house TAP Gastropub in 1180 Peachtree Street, confirmed by a source with first-hand knowledge of the project’s pending lease. The two-story space would feature an outdoor patio area.

Kim and Ballester told What Now Atlanta (WNA) these plans are very tentative. Breaking ground on a second Pour Taproom depends largely on the economy and how the local and state government respond to the coronavirus in the next few weeks. Without a signed lease or any set dates, the pair filed the permit during this time because they’ve heard permits have taken longer to process during the coronavirus.

“We do not have a signed lease for any of our future locations and do not intend to advertise anything eluding to our expansion plans at this time,” Ballester Tuesday told WNA in an email.

Pour Taproom started in Asheville in 2014 and came to Atlanta in 2019 with an outpost in Old Fourth Ward. With locations in 11 cities across America, Pour features self-serve taps for wine, cider, and beer.

The owners said they have no further comments at this time.

  • I spoke with no-one at WhatNow Atlanta. There is inaccurate information in this post.

  • Self serve beer is an absolute disaster. I got foam on 10 taps at Pour on the Beltline, no staff knew how to fix the lines (laughable), staff let me leave without paying.
