Atlanta’s Upper Westside is bound for a brand new bakery. Baker Dude is set to open in the planned Chattahoochee Food Works food hall later this year. Baker Dude will be one of the first three tenants to open this fall, including Pomodoro Bella, and Baked Kitchen South African Street Food. The food hall is built to accommodate 31 vendors in its 22,000 square feet of space. Orran Booher, the owner of Baker Dude, told What Now Atlanta that he anticipates a late October or early November opening.

Booher founded Baker Dude in 2015 with products sold in local farmers markets and formerly in a retail spot at Peachtree Center Plaza. Starting July of 2017, Baker Dude operated a kiosk in the food court of SunTrust Plaza for one year. Baker Dude opened its first brick-and-mortar store at The Beacon Atlanta in August 2018.

Booher said that he was attracted to the area because it’s “always developing [and] improving.”

“The people behind this venture have such great credibility … It looks amazing. Every detail was well thought through,” he said.

On the menu at Baker Dude, Booher said that he has expanded the offerings over the last few years, now able to accommodate a variety of diets, including vegan, gluten-free, keto, and paleo. The bakery is specialized in cupcakes and cakes as well as “bou-cakes,” which is a bouquet-like assemblage of seven cupcakes. Artisan pizzas are also available.

Chattahoochee Food Works is curated by Robert Montwaid, creator of New York’s Gansevoort Market, and Emmy- and James Beard Award-winning Chef Andrew Zimmern.
