The former Atmosphère Restaurant in Piedmont Heights is being eyed for a new concept.

A business license application was recently filed in Atlanta for 1620 Piedmont Ave., which calls for a Persian restaurant at the location.

What Now Atlanta learned that Amisha Popatiya is one of the restaurateurs involved in the new concept.

Popatiya in an email to What Now Atlanta said the restaurant project at 1620 Piedmont is “surely unique in what it will offer.”

She added that “we are opening a Middle East kitchen that pays tribute to history and art through the restaurant’s design and infrastructure … We plan to excite a variety of taste palettes while staying true to the authenticity of Middle Eastern cuisine.”

Popatiya didn’t immediately respond to additional questions about the concept, including the restaurant name and opening timeline.

Atmosphère closed in March after 20 years in business. Located in a quaint house on Piedmont Avenue, it was known for its traditional French menu including escargot and crepes.

This article was updated Feb 27, 2023: A previous version incorrectly stated that Amisha Popatiya served as Chief Marketing Officer for Tin Drum Asian Kitchen.
