It’s always snoball season in New Orleans, and soon it will be here in Atlanta, too. Sonja and James Milton are bringing sNO-Man, a take on the Big Easy’s signature shaved ice, to Campbellton Road sometime this spring.
“This is a dream for my husband, who grew up in New Orleans eating snoballs,” co-owner Sonja Milton told What Now Atlanta. “It’s his passion. We’re both excited to bring the sweet treats of New Orleans to our neighborhood and community.”
What is a New Orleans snoball? According NewOrleans.com, the “tradition dates back to the 1930s when locals George Ortolano and Ernest Hansen used the first ice-shaving machines.”
“A snowball is a customizable sweet made with a mound of fluffy shaved ice, flavored with sweet syrups and topped or stuffed with a number of mix-ins and add-ons… like the local favorite condensed milk drizzle, ice cream-stuffed or gummy bear infused.”
“We’re still in the building phase, but plan to open later this spring,” says Sonja. The new eatery will replace Metro PCS at the shopping center at 1728 Campbellton Road SW, just west of the Chevron station, joining Pretti Plates Catering, Got ‘U’ Lookin Good Barbershop, and Cabin Ink Tattoos.
