Korey Roberson – aka Big Oomp – an Atlanta-based record producer and owner of the eponymous record label, Big Oomp Records, is turning his attention to the grill with the opening of BOSK – aka Big Oomp Studio Kitchen – which is due to premiere this spring at 510 Fairburn Rd in Southwest Atlanta.

“Atlanta’s very Own Big Oomp is set to open the first-ever Black-owned Burger Joint in the heart of SWATS, opening spring 2023 alongside his daughter, Narie Sade,” Narie announced to What Now Atlanta.

“We primarily want to be known for our burgers – it’s going to be a burger joint – but we will have tons of other things on the menu,” as well as a full bar, hookah, live music, outdoor seating, and karaoke says Narie.

In addition to the burgers, which Narie says will take stylistic cues from Shake Shack and Smashburger, BOSK will also serve up milkshakes, a variety of egg rolls, and salads, as well as vegan and gluten-free options.

“Everybody’s eating a little different nowadays, so we want to make sure that we have something that’s good for everyone on the menu,” says Narie, who hopes to keep people happy and coming back.

To say that Big Oomp is a trailblazer in his community would be something of an understatement. Not only will BOSK be the first Black-owned burger joint in the SWATS, but the music impresario is also credited with launching Atlanta’s first indie hip-hop label in 1996 and ultimately paving the way for the city’s now iconic sound, as well as serving as a major player in the Freaknik music festival around the same time. What’s more, he’s produced hit tracks for the likes of Flo Rida and Unk. When he’s not in the studio, however, Big Oomp coaches little league football at Ben Hill Recreation Center, a position he’s held for the past 20 years.
