City Barbeque appears to be cooking up a new location in Acworth.

The restaurant is proposed for 3574 Cobb Pkwy NW, according to construction documents. The one-story building would be approximately 3,400 square feet and include an outdoor patio.

City Barbeque was founded in Ohio in 1999 by Rick Malir, who is still at the helm of the business. City Barbeque now has dozens of company-owned locations across the South and the Midwest, including several in Georgia. What Now Atlanta reported last August that an additional City Barbeque location was proposed for McDonough.

With three on-site smokers at every location, City Barbeque serves beef brisket, pulled pork, chicken, smoked sausage, turkey breast and ribs, along with an array of sides to complement the meats. The company also offers catering services.

Each City Barbeque location gives about 10 percent of pre-tax profits to local charities and nonprofits, according to the company.

Construction bids for the new Acworth restaurant will be accepted through March 1, 2024.
