According to recent public records, a new kid-centered establishment with food and beverage offerings is soon coming to Orlando. Terra Play Center will be found at 9725 Selten Way.
“More Than Just a Playground,” the official website declares.
“An immersive indoor play facility catering to children 6 months to 8 years of age. Terra Play Center offers children the opportunity to enjoy themselves while exercising both their minds and bodies. The playground is specifically designed to be inclusive, catering to children of all abilities. From dedicated sensory rooms, infant area, rock walls, ball pits, slides and caregiver lounge, we have it all!”
In an recent interview, owners Michelle Sverrisson and Rebekah Dailidonis effusively shared with What Now their motivations and visions for the inspired–and inspiring–establishment.
“I am a pediatric neurology nurse practitioner and a mama,” said Dailidonis, emphasizing her deep understanding of the trials and needs of the families she and Sverisson hope to serve. Given this on-the-ground proximity, she observed “a huge level of burnout for parents of special needs kids.”
“They didn’t feel there were many options for places to go,” she says.
So the duo decided to take action.
“I wanted to create community with the families, a safe haven for parents and children, and make an all-inclusive play space for younger children, specifically kids between 6 months and eight years of age,” she says.
“At Terra Play, we believe play is powerful. In today’s busy world, many children and families have lost touch with the joy of simply playing together,” said Dailidonis.
“We’re here to change that — by creating space for both free play and purposeful play that nurtures connection, creativity, and growth. We’re especially excited to introduce Terra Path — a therapeutic play experience designed to support children in meaningful ways. More details coming soon!”
Indeed, there couldn’t possibly be a more ideal location for the project. The Terra will be less than three miles away from Nemours Children’s Hospital and will be immediately neighboring offices that serve thousands of patients.
“We picked this location because we are on a set block for pediatric medical care.”
Terra will also operate a cafe on site, serving “a variety of baked goods and foods” along with “bubble tea and espresso-based drinks.”
From the macro to micro levels, Terra was built with a loving and precise eye for detail. For example, there will be two private bathrooms, of which one will have a “5 foot diaper changer to help with families with older children who are not potty trained, and can still comfortably change their diapers,” said Sverrisson.
So when will the wonderful Terra Play Place open its doors?
“We are hoping to have our soft opening the first weekend of May,” says Dailidonis.
