The Office of Food Protection of the Philadelphia Department of Health conducted health inspections across eateries on April 10. Two restaurants, a brewpub, and a donut shop failed to clear the inspection. Based on their food safety violations, the Philadelphia establishments have been asked to take corrective actions by the inspectors.

Four Philadelphia Eateries Failed Health Inspection
Glory Beer Bar & Kitchen, Mochiatsu, Little Morocco, and Pho Ga Thanh Thanh could not pass their routine inspection rounds on April 10. The Philadelphia Department of Health found many violations, like mouse droppings, an empty paper towel dispenser, debris in the food prep area, and an absent PIC in the four food places.

The Philadelphia-based food facility failed to demonstrate satisfactory results in a health inspection conducted this April.
Inspection Findings at Glory Beer Bar & Kitchen
The Philadelphia Department of Health reported multiple violations at the Chestnut St. located brewpub. Paper towels were missing at the handwashing sink, which was added during the inspection. Inspectors observed residue on the inside of the ice machine bin at Glory Beer Bar & Kitchen.
The inspection report then highlighted mouse droppings on the floor of the warewashing area, employee storage closet, and rear exit at the Philadelphia eatery. Droppings were also found in its food prep area and on the surface under the counter storage table.
Beverages were not kept at least 6 inches above the floor at the Philadelphia brewpub. Inspectors also noted that plates were not inverted in the food prep area. The inspection report highlighted dust in the hood filters and fan guards at the food facility.
Little Morocco

People make their way to this food facility on Passyunk Ave for a Moroccan taste. The Philadelphia-based restaurant has become a loved food place for menu highlights like beef tagine, Little Morocco Chicken Salad, pistachio cake, and couscous.
The Philadelphia-based Moroccan restaurant was examined for food safety violations on Thursday. But Little Morocco could not pass the strict inspection.
Inspection Findings at Little Morocco
Food inspectors found that hot water was not working at Little Morocco’s handwashing sink in the food prep area. Soap was also missing at the sink, toilet, and warewashing area. Both issues were taken care of during the Philadelphia department’s inspection.
The inspection report next shed light on uncovered food items in the reach-in refrigerator and a damp knife and cutting board. Dates were missing on labels for dishes like lamb and soup. These three problem areas were corrected as well at the Moroccan restaurant.
Food inspectors then found rodent bait in bags in Little Morocco’s basement area, which were removed during the inspection process.
Splash guards were missing in the food prep area. Whereas the plastic panel was not found on one side of the Moroccan restaurant’s counter for dessert display. Food inspectors also observed inoperable equipment in the refrigerator and closed display case. Microwaves were not NSF/ANSI approved at Little Morocco.
The inspection report then noted debris in multiple areas at the Philadelphia food facility, including shelves, ovens, fryer cabinets, microwaves, and espresso machines. Food inspectors noticed black residue on gaskets and fan guards as well. These were cleaned during the inspection.
The report emphasized dead cockroaches in the food prep area and low lighting intensity in the food prep area.
Mochiatsu

This food facility at 11th St. is loved for its warm ambiance and mouthwatering dishes. Menu highlights at the Philadelphia-based donut place include pineapple strawberry shortcake, elote, taro milk tea, and mochi donuts.

Inspection Findings at Mochiatsu
A sign/poster and paper towel dispenser were missing in the kitchen prep area’s handwash sink at Mochiatsu. Food inspectors also found black residue on the inside of its ice machine bin.
The inspection report showed that labels were not added to containers of bulk food ingredients. Inspectors then noted leakage in Mochiatsu’s three-basin sink and food residue in the warewash sinks. Raw wood pallets were used for supporting equipment at the Philadelphia food establishment.
The report then listed different cleanliness issues at Mochiatsu. Debris was found on the lower prep tables. A broom and dustpan were lying on the floor at the Philadelphia food facility. Grease and oil were found on the kitchen floor. Inspectors also found dust on the ceiling vents.
Pho Ga Thanh Thanh

Located on Washington Ave, this Vietnamese restaurant presents the people of Philadelphia with authentic food dishes. Pho Ga Thanh Thanh has become a go-to place for Vietnamese eats like small plain pho, chicken pho GA, cendol, and sugarcane juice.
Food inspectors of the Philadelphia Department of Health found a range of health violations at the Philadelphia-based Vietnamese food facility on April 10.
Inspection Findings at Pho Ga Thanh Thanh
The inspection report first mentioned the absence of the person in charge at the Vietnamese food facility, who appeared later during the test. But then the PIC demonstrated a lack of knowledge regarding foodborne illnesses.
Staff at Pho Ga Thanh Thanh were not washing their hands before using single-use gloves or in between changing tasks. The issue was corrected during the inspection.
Food inspectors then shed light on cleanliness issues at Pho Ga Thanh Thanh. A colander and old food residue were found in its handwash sink, which was removed upon order by inspectors. Paper towel dispensers were also added at the kitchen’s handwash sink and beverage prep area.
Ready-to-eat food items were found uncovered in Pho Ga Thanh Thanh’s walk-in refrigerator. Sink stoppers were missing, which were added during the inspection.
The inspection report then emphasized mouse droppings in the Vietnamese food facility’s kitchen and storage areas. Food was not kept 6 inches above the floor, as established by the health department.
Food containers/common bowls without handles were found in direct contact with bulk food items. Inspectors added in the report that serving utensils were exposed to hand contact at Pho Ga Thanh Thanh. Rusted shelves and drying racks were also observed at the Philadelphia eatery.
The inspection report then noted that the food facility had dead mice in the Vietnamese restaurant’s rear storage area. Cracked floor tiles, damaged walls under sinks, and dust on hood filters were also cited in the report.
The Philadelphia Department of Health has asked all four Philadelphia-based food facilities to take the required steps according to its reports. It will carry out a reinspection at the eateries again soon.
