Gotham, the world’s first cannabis concept store, expanded its footprint with a fourth location at the corner of 10th Avenue and 19th Street, which opened April 4th. This new space marks a significant evolution for the brand, introducing Gotham Gallery—the first dedicated exhibition space within a cannabis retail environment—along with a robust programming schedule featuring new, emerging, and sought-after artists with works to be shoppable through Gotham.

As Gotham continues to expand its empire, the brand is also growing its team with two exciting new hires. Jesse Tolz joins as Vice President of Marketing, bringing a wealth of experience scaling cannabis and food businesses, including his time at The Travel Agency where he played a key role from its inception, shaping the dispensary’s brand and marketing strategy. Additionally, Emma Schwartz, formerly of Pace Gallery, joins as Gallery Sales Manager, working under the gallery curatorial direction of Gotham’s Vice President of Creative Merchandising, Rachel Berks, to bring cutting-edge art programming to life at Gotham Gallery.

The Gotham Gallery at Chelsea is the brand’s first traditional gallery space, setting a new precedent at the intersection of cannabis, art, and culture to provide a platform for artists to showcase and sell their work in an accessible, beautifully designed environment. Visitors enter through Gotham’s curated retail space, passing an array of premium cannabis products, design objects, and lifestyle goods before arriving at the gallery. A long, art-lined corridor leads to the 805-square-foot exhibition area—an adaptable space designed for dynamic group shows, solo exhibitions, and special activations. The gallery can also be closed for private events.

Furthering its commitment to supporting artists, Gotham will launch Editions in Fall 2025—a collection of artist-designed multiples, including t-shirts, ashtrays, prints, rolling trays, and more. This initiative will provide additional income opportunities for emerging artists who have exhibited through Gotham’s gallery program.

Gotham Gallery will debut with “The World is Yours” a collaborative exhibition by legendary rapper Nas and the future-conscious design studio Objects Are By. Opening April 19th, the exhibition will feature never-before-seen photographs of Nas from 1994, captured by Danny Hastings, Creative Director of Wu-Tang Productions . The show will also include a limited-edition collection of homeware and apparel, available exclusively at Gotham.

As with all Gotham locations, the Chelsea space also features an arboreal art installation by artist Molly Lowe. Inspired by the quaking aspen trees of upstate New York, the tree’s leaves are crafted from hand-painted capiz shells, adding a luminous and delicate quality to the installation. To create a more immersive, grove-like atmosphere, the sculptural trees made of recycled materials are integrated throughout the retail space.

Between the trees, Gotham’s expert cannaseurs are positioned to help clientele select the desired cannabis product of choice, ranging from premium flower, pre-rolls, edibles, vape pens, and live resin. The store will also showcase a highly curated mix of lifestyle, beauty, and fashion products. Featured brands include Luar, Eckhaus Latta, Collina Strada, Kuro Denim, and Porter Yoshida alongside Gotham’s in-house label Gotham Goods, which offers candles, topicals, apparel and more.

“Chelsea has always been the beating heart of New York’s art scene and we’re planting our flag right in the middle of it. says Joanne Wilson, founder of Gotham in a statement. With Gotham Chelsea, we’re not just opening another dispensary- we’re redefining what a cannabis retail experience can be. Our first dedicated gallery space is a bold statement of our commitment to artists, creatives, and the cultural landscape of New York City”.

Expanding on its mission to continually revolutionize the legal cannabis narrative in New York State through intentional partnerships, conversation-generating campaigns and robust community engagement, Gotham Chelsea will serve as community hub, hosting a variety of events and programs centered around art, activism, and wellness. From meditation sessions and journaling workshops, to game nights, and brand pop ups – the space will foster meaningful connection between cannabis and culture.

Gotham’s Chelsea location opened to the public on April 4th. The store will offer in-person shopping and in-store pick-up.
