Tacos Chicos (110 Ave A), a new and authentic Mexico City-inspired taqueria, officially opened on 4/16. Located inside 96 Tears, Tacos Chicos is bringing Mexico City’s tacos to the heart of NYC’s punk rock scene.

Led by chef Sergio Capdeville (a Mexico City native and five-time winner of New Jersey’s Best Taco Award), the menu features just four tacos; each one expertly crafted to highlight bold, distinct flavors:

  • Carnitas: Slow-roasted pork, perfectly seasoned, tender and crispy.
  • Carne Asada: Grilled steak, marinated and cooked to perfection, topped with a bright, punchy salsa.
  • Pollo Chipotle: Chicken with a smoky, tamarind chipotle sauce that’s rich in flavor.
  • Veggie: A fresh, hearty mix of spinach and mushrooms, giving a satisfying balance to the meaty options.
  • Outdoor dining, specials for Cinco de Mayo and a Baja-inspired fish taco will also be available; more details to come!

Authentic to its Mexico City roots, the team behind the project is a New York–Mexico City crew who met while producing a music festival together in CDMX. It includes LES bar vets (Niagara, Old Flings), a Mexican musician/poet (Elías Gameros), the Ramones’ creative director (Arturo Vega – who designed the visual identity for Tacos Chicos) and entrepreneur (Gustavo Gameros). The connection between the culinary and musical worlds is part of the pop-up’s vibe, with the energetic punk atmosphere of 96 Tears elevating the experience.

Tacos Chicos is open Wednesday through Sunday from 6-11pm at 110 Avenue A.
