Hops n Drops posted a notice at their outlet in Colorado on Tuesday and announced the permanent closure on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at 10 pm. This is the last Hops n Drops outlet in Colorado that will close in a few hours, and the brand will exit Colorado permanently. Though they may return to the state later, there are no recent plans for that.
Highlights
- Today, Colorado will lose a neighborhood gathering place permanently as Hops n Drops is closing.
- After serving for the last time, at 10 pm doors of the outlet will close permanently.
- The brand will focus on other locations, such as Washington, and has offered employees jobs there.
Hops n Drops Will Bid Farewell to Colorado Springs Today
Hop Jacks, rebranded to Hops n Drops in 2018, is a burger chain that also offers other food varieties on the menu. With headquarters in Washington, the brand has its outlets in different locations. It tags itself as a neighborhood gathering place, and the foot traffic and love of people for the brand justify that.
Hops n Drops announced on Tuesday that they will be permanently closing their last Colorado location. Situated at 5820 Stetson Hills Blvd, Colorado Springs, the restaurant posted a notice, which mentioned a sad goodbye to the locals and asked them to visit last time. As per the notice, the outlet will serve today for the last time and will close at 10 pm.
CEO of Hops n Drops, Kevin Eggen, stated the reason for the closure. He said that the sales and volume of customers in Colorado never reached the expected mark. Though he stated that “we really liked Colorado,” the distance from headquarters and the core market in Washington also made the situation challenging.
Closure of Hops n Drops is a part of a bigger strategy, as the brand will now completely exit the state and is ready to focus on Washington and Oregon outlets. The brand expanded in Colorado because of a potential customer base and economy that surged here, but the situation took an unexpected turn. The CEO even gave a ray of hope by saying, “Never say never, but right now it’s a stretch,” which is fueling the speculations that the brand might return to Colorado in the future.
Impact of Closure on Employees and Locals
Locals and employees grieved the closure news. Some expressed their sadness via social media, while others visited their favorite gathering place for the last goodbye. As much as the customers showed their love to Hops n Drops in Colorado, the credit for smooth operations goes to the employees as well.
The brand reported around 30 employees in this Colorado outlet and has offered them a position in outlets at other locations. For those who cannot relocate, the brand is ready to help them get other jobs.
The market strategies of Hops n Drops have been quite dynamic in recent years. Some spots closed while the focus is being shifted to others. The brand closed two outlets in the Denver suburb area this year. On February 27, the Highlands Ranch location was closed, and on April 17, the Broomfield spot closed its doors permanently.
As per Hops n Drops, they are now focused on 19 locations across the Pacific Northwest. Among these, 16 are in Washington, while 3 are in Oregon.
