According to recent public records, a growing taco chain is coming to 6539 Burnet Rd in Austin.

Velvet Taco is a Dallas original, launched in the city in 2011. Fueled by delicious interpretations of one of the world’s favorite foods, the chain has expanded to include nearly 50 locations spread across 8 states.

Recent public records state that construction will consist of an “Interior renovation of existing restaurant for a new restaurant tenant. Site to remain as existing – no scope as part of this project.” The $600,000 job is expected to wrap up by November.

The company’s website explains what makes it-and its cuisine-so special, stating: “We’ve made it our mission to deliver a fresh take on the ubiquitous taco – to elevate this humble food to something more. We use a tortilla as a canvas to make our art. The result is over twenty different taco varieties featuring globe-trotting flavors.”

No opening date has been announced.
