The mind behind one of the Philly-area’s top burger concepts is turning his eyes pizza-ward. Shahezad Contractor, the restaurateur responsible for regional favorite Cousin’s Burger, is bringing Cousin’s Pizza & Hoagies to Montgomery County this spring, reports local media outlet 69News.

The pizzeria will be bringing authentic New York style pizza and halal hoagies to the 2805 Ridge Pike Eagleville storefront that previously housed Chicago Pizza. Contractor tells What Now Philadelphia that he is aiming for a May 11 opening for Cousin’s Pizza & Hoagies.

Eagleville pizza enthusiasts have ample reason to be excited about the upcoming eatery; Contractor brings a critical eye to the industry and is determined to serve only the finest pies. “I grew up in New York, Long Island, and I’m a big pizza snob.” he explains. “I’ve been to almost every single pizza place in my city, so if I’m going to do this, I’m going to do it properly-New York style pizza.”

Cousin’s will also claim the distinction of being the area’s first and only halal hoagie shop. Contractor explains that he wants that aspect to be akin to a Jimmy John’s.

Contractor wants all of his concepts to be contributing and essential parts of their local communities. He explains that the pizzeria will have murals reflective of its Eagleville neighborhood. As with every Cousin’s concept, the pizza shop will utilize high-quality ingredients to craft superior cuisine.

While locals await Cousin’s Pizza & Hoagies arrival, they can check out the grand opening of Cousin’s Burger’s newest location. The celebrated smash burger concept will be opening at 44 North Eighth Street in Allentown on May 3. Old and new fans alike can stop in and enjoy a free smashburger, fries and soda between 3 and 5 pm.
