Restaurant Owner Shares the News of Closure On Social Media
Chef Mica Talmor, owner of Pomella, took to social media to let her customers know that the restaurant will be closing down. She said that the restaurant has been the home of her and her team over the years. “Its been a very difficult decision to shut it down,” she added.
The restaurant has been struggling with everything getting more expensive – “the cost of goods and ingredients, occupancy costs, labor costs… breathing costs.” At the same time, the income has been going down as fewer people are eating out, as they struggle financially.
Talmor said she tried to hold on when she got a sliver of hope with things getting better at the end of last year. However, this year has been challenging, and she finally had to decide to close down as she doesn’t see any light at the end of the tunnel.
Ending the short video she posted, Talmor thanked her team at Pomella, who she said “are family.” While she doesn’t yet know what the future holds for them, she expressed hope to be able to work with them again.
Diners Invited to Say Goodbyes and Help Out
Talmor invited her customers to the restaurant, offering them their best food, beverages, and service until the very last minute. She requested her guests to dine at the restaurant, take something home, and tip the team well. This will save her from personal debt and allow the team to have some money with them as the restaurant closes and they head to their next jobs.
Pomella will be hosting its usual specials and upcoming events in the weeks leading up to the closure. Customers can keep track of the updates through its social media handles and the newsletter.
