A restaurant advertising authentic Vietnamese food will be opening soon in the Lynnwood area.

Kien Wong and his wife Hoan have been preparing their restaurant Basil Bistro at 17525 Highway 99, Suite E. Their applications have been approved, and they are now aiming to open on Mother’s Day weekend, May 9 to 11.

The two previously owned a Vietnamese pho noodle restaurant in the area, and then opened a preexisting Chinese restaurant in Arlington. Wong took some of the menu items from the Chinese restaurant, and last year they decided to create a new restaurant in Lynnwood to showcase more of their recipes.

“We have a great following,” Wong said.

One of the main items on the menu will be the basil beef dish, a flavorful beef tenderloin, Pad Thai and salads with lemongrass chicken. For starters, there are spring rolls, crab rangoons, salt & pepper calamari and deep fried prawns. There will also be a full bar inside.

The restaurant is located between Lynnwood and Edmonds, and north of Esperance. Wong believes the restaurant will benefit from being centrally located. They are already fully staffed and are preparing for the opening.

“It’s not just a job. It’s a lot of people who are like family to us,” Wong said.
