A new fitness studio is coming to Marietta.

BODYBAR Pilates will be a new tenant at The Avenue West Cobb. The studio will be located in a 2,188-square-foot space between Brighton Collectibles and Parisian Nails.

The studio comes from Carrie Campbell. After successfully running a mortgage company for more than 20 years, she wanted to branch out and do something that was close to her heart. She stumbled upon pilates during her health journey, having had more than 30 surgeries.

“Because of where I am from a health perspective, I’ve always trying to find an avenue for pain management and stress management,” she told What Now Atlanta. “I’ve tried almost every fitness concept I can possibly find. If you can strengthen the muscles that are going around your core, your back, your spine, you take the pressure off your spine and help alleviate pain. So many fitness concepts claim to do that, and when I finally tried pilates a few years ago, things really changed for me.”

BODYBAR Pilates offers a variety of classes, from Balanced to Athletic. BODYBAR 101 is a great place to start, which gives visitors the chance to learn about the equipment (like the reformer machine) and class formats before jumping into a full class.

“When you come into pilates for the first time and see this crazy machine, you’re like, ‘What the heck?’ That’s something I experienced a lot before teaching,” said fitness manager Stephanie Armour. “I’m so thankful that we have that kind of step one for people to get their feet wet so you don’t walk into your first 50-minute class and you have no idea what the pieces of the equipment are, what the names of the moves are or what they’re supposed to look like, and you’re moving so fast and by the time it’s over, you’re like, ‘What just happened?'”

As a professional bodybuilder, Armour discovered pilates as a way to supplement her weight-lifting routine. She is looking forward to helping people discover a workout they can enjoy for life, trying new classes and all the different methods and styles of pilates.

The team wants to meet people where they’re at, whether you’re a seasoned pilates pro or someone who’s exercising for the first time in awhile – or ever.

The BODYBAR concept is more than just pilates,” Campbell said. “It’s really about community engagement and building community and holding people accountable, and embracing the inner athlete in everybody and bringing people from where they are to where they can be.”

Community and accountability is important to the ethos of the West Cobb studio, according to studio manager Supriya Harris.

“We don’t want to just get your membership and never see you again,” she told What Now Atlanta. “We want to make sure that we know your goals. Whatever it is, we want to see you in the studio. And if you’re not there, we might reach out and call you.”

The team has been at several local festivals and events to help get the word out about the upcoming studio and to provide fitness experiences for people of all levels.

BODYBAR Pilates is expected to open at The Avenue West Cobb in July 2025.

The fitness studio is one of three tenants coming soon to the open-air shopping center in Marietta. BLENDED Smoothie & Juice Bar and the men’s salon Hammer & Nails are also expected to debut there this summer.

“With summer growing closer by the day, we’re excited to welcome three new retailers adding to the many shopping, dining and entertainment offerings guests can experience at The Avenue West Cobb,” John Liu, general manager at The Avenue West Cobb, said in a statement. “Whether they’re grabbing a healthy beverage on the go, stopping by for a pilates class or getting a fresh new look for summer, each tenant offers something different to our local community. We look forward to seeing the positive impact that these new tenants will have on the overall visitor experience for our guests.”

The team behind the upcoming location of BODYBAR Pilates is excited to bring an inclusive fitness experience to Marietta, giving visitors the chance to find community, prioritize wellness, and have some time to themselves.

I love bringing people together and having a place where you can dedicate 50 minutes to yourself and feel better about yourself. I guarantee when you go to pilates, you’ll never leave mad,” Harris said.

The studio is currently offering founding memberships, with discounts for a limited number of members. Sign up online.
