DFW diners, it’s time to make the donuts (again). Shipley Do-Nuts is bringing over 60 varieties of the beloved sweet treat to a third McKinney location, and construction is so close customers can nearly taste it.
Helmed by franchisee Skeet Smith, the bakery will be opening at 9401 West University Drive, #100. Locals will be able to hear the sounds of progress on Shipley’s new location before the summer is out; according to paperwork filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, construction is set to begin on the storefront on August 18 of this year.
An opening timeline is not immediately available for the 1,600 square foot eatery, but it seems probable Shipley will be opening in late 2025 or early 2026. The project is set to wrap on November 7.
Shipley Do-Nuts has already made itself known to McKinney donut enthusiasts; the chain has 2 storefronts open in the region and several more across the DFW. The company has a long and storied history; Shipley fried up its first donut in Houston in 1936. Shipley now has around 360 locations spread across 12 states.
