Convenience store chain Wawa, known for its made-to-order food offerings as well as its fuel, has another location on the way, according to a recent permit. Wawa is looking to construct a new site at 8033 Highway 100.
The permit calls for a 5,915-square-foot building, a 7,150-square-foot fueling canopy and 16 fuel pumps.
This is part of a greater wave of expansion plans for Wawa in the Greater Nashville area. Previously revealed locations include spots in Gallatin, Hermitage, Springfield and Murfreesboro.
The Pennsylvania-based convenience chain started out as Wawa dairy, founded by George Wood, in 1902. In 1964, George’s son Grahame Wood opened the first Wawa Food Market in Folsom, Penn. Now, the convenience brand has more than 1,000 locations across the nation, primarily on the East Coast.
“Wawa is a privately held, family-owned company with 200+ years in American business. Our story is rooted in values, driven by purpose and bound for growth,” the Wawa website states.
The Wawa menu features options like fresh coffee, baked goods, beverages and breakfast sandwiches. They also offer lunch and dinner items such as built-to-order wraps, pizza, burgers, chicken sandwiches, quesadillas, sandwiches and burritos.
As of now, an opening timeline for this new location is unclear, though Wawa is expected to open some of its Greater Nashville locations this year.
In addition to expanding to the Nashville market, Wawa is looking to join new markets across the country. Recently, it announced its first Indiana store, and it just opened its first Ohio location in April.
