A different kind of spot for drinks that has been growing in popularity in Portland is coming to Gresham Pleasant Valley.

A bar concept called Tappy Camper is coming to 17150 SE Powell Boulevard 1. It will be set up in a camper, as the name says, but it will be fully stationary and a permanent location. It joins other food cart pods that are set up in this area, and it will serve local beers on tap, as well as non-alcoholic drinks.

There are other areas designated to food cart pods in the city, like Cartopia Food Carts at 1207 SE Hawthorne Boulevard and Piedmont Station Food Carts at 625 NE Killingsworth Street. Owner Tina Huynh said the name is a play on “happy campers,” as many in Portland are into camping and the outdoors. She said it will be joining other food cart “pods” at the address that are stationary.

“This is a mobile cart, but it’s going to be stationary at the site,” Huynh said.

Huynh said she is hoping to have a soft launch on June 8. She will be posting to social media when there is more information in the coming days.

The listed hours right now are 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, and 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, but these are set to change. Huynh said they will also look to open more days of the week.
