Ivan Moreno is the new owner of The Rambler, the neighborhood bar and restaurant on 4205 N Mississippi Ave, which changed hands in October after more than a decade under its founder. The bar is staying open with the same neighborhood-bar concept.
The Rambler opened in 2015 and was run by longtime bartender Christian Lee, who announced on the bar’s Instagram that he is stepping down after 11 years. A new liquor license for the business was approved and active as of Oct. 12.
The place is housed in a converted 1920s bungalow and still feels like a family home, with a full bar, a food menu, board games and sports on TV. Trivia nights are on Tuesdays, and the dog-friendly front and back patios have fire pits and a bocce court.
The property has a history as a neighborhood gathering spot. Before the Rambler, the bungalow was home to Casa Naranja and then Bungalo Bar. The Rambler opened with a kegged house cocktail, variations on classics like the Manhattan and the Old Fashioned, and an upscale Tex-Mex menu that included a brisket frito pie.
Mississippi Avenue has long been one of North Portland’s busiest dining and drinking corridors, with a mix of bars, restaurants and shops within walking distance.
