Chaipolitan is ready to level up the tea scene in Nashville. The new teahouse and cafe will join Midtown in a nearly 2,000-square-foot space at 827 19th Avenue South this fall.

Pamela Ghosal Chaudhury told What Now Nashville that the concept is inspired by her own experiences growing up, when she experimented with chai and other tea flavors. The menu will offer a variety of chai and tea blends, placing an emphasis on tea in a modern coffee-saturated market.

“It’s more so tea-forward. I’m an avid tea lover. I love chai. I love tea,” Chaudhury said. “We wanted to make a place where you can get that.”

While the emphasis will be on tea, Chaipolitan will still offer a full coffee program, featuring specialty coffee varieties. Other offerings will include kombucha, Indian-fusion food options and global bites.

Chaudhury said Chaipolitan’s authentic chai will set it apart from the offerings at other coffee shops and businesses. It is rare for her to find good scented chai, as most coffee shops use powders that have lost some of the richness of the chai flavor.

“I wanted my community to come and taste this — what a fresh chai tastes like — and share the experience with them,” Chaudhury said.

They are currently in the pre-construction phase, so the design is still being mapped out. However, customers can expect a warm, welcoming atmosphere with tall ceilings, plenty of windows and an airy, fresh feel.

“One of the things I’m trying to address is the feeling of belonging. I’m big about that,” Chaudhury said. “When my customers and community come in, I want them to enjoy it as much as I do and feel like they belong there.”

Chaudhury said an exact opening date is still to come, pending construction. She also expects to roll out more information about the menu offerings in the coming months.

“Nashville has so much to offer, and I feel like this city is right for this kind of space and concept,” Chaudhury said. “I just hope the community loves it as much as we do, and we look forward to serving the community and sharing our love of chai.”
