Riverside Restaurant in Lafayette to Be Demolished, Replaced

The former Hana Grill is set to be demolished so a new riverside restaurant can be put in its place

Having sat empty since the start of the pandemic, the former Hana Grill in Lafayette has been sold, and the new owners plan to demolish the building to put a new restaurant in its place. The property at 1601 W. Pinhook Rd. is located along the Vermilion River, and the new owners plan to make greater use of the riverside location, according to reports. What Now New Orleans has reached out for additional information.

When it opened in 1974, the building was home to the Vermilion Landing Restaurant, which offered live music and covered seating in its riverside space. Over the years, the restaurant changed hands, becoming Tokyo Live and Hana Grill. Neither of those subsequent concepts utilized the riverside space in the same way that the original did.
